Graduated in Chemistry from the UCM in 2005, she completed a doctorate in Physical Chemistry, studying the mechanical properties of low-dimensional materials. She obtained her doctorate in 2011 and obtained the extraordinary doctoral award in 2012. She carried out postdoctoral stays in Brazil (UFMG) and Prague (Heyrovsky Inst) for 4 years. There she expanded her studies into advanced synthesis and characterization of graphene and other 2D materials. She joined ICN2 with a Juan de la Cierva Inc. contract, then obtained a Ramón y Cajal contract and is currently a CSIC Senior Scientist. At ICN2 she develops neural implants and other graphene-based biomedical technologies. She has recently received an ERC Consolidator project with which she will develop a technology to provide neural nerve stimulation implants with energy autonomy.
