She coordinates the UPM educational innovation group “Improving the Learning of Mathematics in Engineering” and the SSERIES community of the alliance of European universities EELISA, using science as a tranversal way to face societal challenges and boosting participation of girls and women in STEAM educational programs. She also collaborates with Estalmat Project to Stimulate Mathematical Talent in young people and with Stem Talent Girl through the program Mentor Women.

ABOUT ME

María Jesús Vázquez Gallo has a doctorate in Mathematics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She works as professor of Applied Mathematics at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (ETSI de Caminos, Canales y Puertos). Previously, she had teaching and research positions at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and she has completed stays at: Stony Brook University, Università degli Studi  di Roma “Tor Vergata”, Università degli Studi di Milano and University of Durham.

He has given outreach and research seminars at various universities, highlighting the COW (Cambridge-Oxford-Warwick) seminar on Algebraic Geometry, the central area of ​​his research. He currently belongs to the UPM research group “Geometry and its Applications”.
